At Seiner Salt Lake Kia, we put a lot of effort into offering a nice selection of new and used cars and SUVs to our local automotive community. And if you visit our dealership, you’ll see a number of characteristics that distinguish Kia from other well-known brands like Honda. Are you aware that Kia offers a jaw-dropping 10-year (or 100,000-mile) warranty for drivers in addition to an extra extended warranty that is optional? Only a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty is offered for Honda vehicles, though. Furthermore, the models of each of the brands vary greatly from one another as well. For example, the Honda CR-V and Kia Sportage are two popular SUVs, but do you know why the Kia Sportage is a better choice? Despite having great faith in the Kia name, we recognize that choosing between these two may be difficult considering their popularity. But we’re confident that after reading this, you’ll get in touch with us to buy a 2023 Kia Sportage!
Better Features Can Be Seen in the 2023 Kia Sportage
When contrasting the inside of these two SUVs, the Kia Sportage excels. For instance, the Kia Sportage has more standard features than the Honda CR-V.
A split-folding and reclining backseat, a touchscreen interface, and satellite radio are all included for the driver. There is also an add-on package for the regular model that adds modern technology and smartphone integration.
The Honda CR-V base model does not come with any of these features as standard or an option, so customers must upgrade their trim levels and spend more money to get them.
2023 Kia Sportage Vs Honda CR-V: Performance & Engine
Everybody appreciates an attractive car, but the 2023 Kia Sportage stands out even more because it has three different powertrain options: gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.
The 2.5-liter inline-four paired with an 8 speed automatic can make 187 horsepower, as well as 178 lb-ft of torque that moves the Sportage from 0-60 mph around 9.1 seconds!
The hybrid Sportage comes with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine matched with a 59 horsepower motor that estimates 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain also can drive around 42 mpg city and 48 mpg on the highway.
The Sportage PHEV is paired with an 89 hp motor and a 13.8 kWh battery that can produce 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. It can also accelerate from 0-60 mph in 7 seconds.
But for 2023 CR-V buyers, Honda just provides two engine choices. Regular models come with a CVT gearbox and a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine.
The turbo-4 can make 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque which allows the CR-V to reach 60 mph in around 7.9 seconds. It also has an approximate mileage of 28 and 34 mpg in the city and highways.
The sport hybrid is matched with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that can make 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, plus an estimated 40 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highways.
The Sportage Has Better Cargo & Towing Capacity
The space offered by the 2023 Kia Sportage is great. The enormous 39.6 cubic feet of conventional cargo space is available thanks to the larger interior. Plus, when the back seats are folded, there’s an extra 74.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity within the SUV.
When it comes to the 2023 Honda CR-V’s, the cargo area has a capacity of about 36.3 cubic feet, but you can expand it by folding the back seats to create a size of 76.5 cubic feet.
Furthermore, the Kia Sportage is once again the superior choice in terms of towing capability. It can tow a maximum of about 2,000 pounds, compared to the Honda’s towing capacity of only about 1,500 pounds.
